Before the beginning of the regular season, the Tampa Bay Lightning had to submit Alex Barre-Boulet through waivers before he joined the Syracuse Crunch. Unfortunately for the Lightning, the Quebecer was claimed by the Seattle Kraken. With this new franchise, Barré-Boulet got the opportunity to play more because of a lesser quality depth.
But to no avail. After two games with the Seattle based club, he picked up an assist in the process, he is back on waivers. The teams have 24 hours to claim him. If he remains unclaimed, he will head to the American Hockey League.
The 24-year-old dynamic forward has never been drafted by a National Hockey League team, but the Lightning organization and Julien BriseBois signed him to a three-year entry-level deal on March 1, 2018. He re-signed for three years following that agreement.
Barré-Boulet has yet to make his mark in the NHL, but in the AHL he has quickly become a formidable scorer, scoring 34, 27 (in 60 games) and 8 (in 10 games) goals, respectively, since his entry. Marc, isn't it time to bring him home?
