During his appearance on 98.1 CHOI, Luc Gélinas of the RDS network dealt with a hot topic involving Marc Bergevin and Geoff Molson.

The renowned journalist gave his thoughts on the "conflict" that reigns among the Montreal staff. He targeted one event in particular that could have caused the breakdown of the relationship between Geoff Molson and Marc Bergevin.

"The selection of Logan Mailloux was an internal implosion. Everyone in the office knew that Trevor Timmins was going to select Logan Mailloux, at least a week before the draft. There was one staffer who stood up, I won't say who, and said 'this is the worst idea, we can't do this'."

* Mr. Gélinas mentioned that this person is still in the fold of the Montreal Canadiens.

"The Canadiens still listened to Timmins. So, my conclusion is that if I'm Geoff Molson in the summer, I want to find someone to blame for looking bad and having to apologize publicly. Besides, there are no french speaker in the club, we get criticized, we never draft any. Our first round picks disappear or don't play in the NHL. Jesperi Kotkaniemi, we were the only ones to have him third on our list in 2018. He's been treading water for three years in addition to being in Carolina now. We've received very little in return."

Gélinas went on to throw out his final hypothesis to back up all of his points.

Molson must have said to Bergevin, "Listen Marc, I'm going to renew you, but you clean up your scouting group." And then Bergevin comes in and says, "I can't do that, I love Trevor, I even adore him, he's one of the best scouts in the NHL."

That may not be the real scenario, but you have to admit that it would make a lot of sense. Marc Bergevin and Trevor Timmins have a great relationship, which could complicate the relationship between Bergevin and Molson.

Maybe that's why Bergevin said he wanted to come back, but only in an ideal world. To be continued...
