In the last few minutes, we've learned that renowned Montreal Gazette reporter Pat Hickey has made a big move that will likely change the life of a younger reporter.
A big move
Hickey voluntarily decided to retire, so he could save a younger reporter's job. Wow.
"Pat Hickey took it upon himself to announce his retirement voluntarily, in order to literally save a younger person's job.
Let's hope other veteran newsroom employees do the same. It's time." - Jack Todd
Recall that last April, Hickey celebrated 57 years as a journalist. Martin St. Louis actually congratulated him at the time.
"This is the end of a very long and glorious career for friend Pat Hickey, who was already a veteran when I started on the beat.
After all these great years, The Gazette's legendary reporter can retire with a sense of accomplishment. RESPECT"
- Luc Gélinas, RDS
Not everyone would have done what he just did. Impressive! Bravo Pat Hickey!
We wish him an excellent retirement and we sincerely thank him for the work he has done during all these years.
