Sadly, it comes as no surprise that we've just learned that Johnny Gaudreau's sister's wedding has been canceled after the NHL star and his brother, Matthew Gaudreau, were struck by an alleged drunk driver.

Katie Gaudreau and her fiancé, Devin Joyce, have canceled their Friday wedding at St. Mary Parish in Gloucester City, New Jersey, following the tragedy that occurred last night.

I believe people have generally done well to give the Gaudreau family the space they need to process this terrible shock, but they have now come forward with a brief message.

«Last night, we lost two husbands, two fathers, two sons, two brothers, two sons-in-law, two uncles, two cousins, two family members, two teammates, two friends, but above all, two extraordinary human beings.
We want everyone to know that we receive your messages of love and support and that we appreciate your thoughts and prayers. We ask that you continue to respect our privacy during this very difficult period of mourning. From all of our families and from the bottom of our hearts (the Gaudreau, Morris, Korbitz, Venello, and Joyce families).»
