We've learned some major news involving the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators forward Jonathan Marchessault.
This comes from the well-respected Frank Seravalli, and it's rock solid.
With that in mind, an interesting trade offer was discussed on TSN 690 in the last few minutes (I'll add the clip here as soon as it becomes available).
As you know, Barry Trotz and Kent Hughes already completed a simple one-for-one trade earlier this season, involving Alexandre Carrier and Justin Barron.

This is a concrete offer that was brought up on TSN, and it's sure to spark debate.

At 34 years old, Marchessault recorded 56 points in 78 games this season, after putting up 69 points in 82 games in 2023-24.
He is under contract through 2029, at $5.5 million per year.
At 27, Laine registered 33 points in 52 games this season, after tallying 9 points in 18 games in 2023-24.
So, would you make this trade if you were Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens?
If the Canadiens fail to bring Marchessault in, the Toronto Maple Leafs could be an intriguing destination for him, at least according to Elliotte Friedman.
