The name Jonathan Marchessault is now more closely linked to Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens following comments from Frank Seravalli.
Seravalli revealed some pretty interesting information in the past few hours.
That said, Marchessault himself has now confirmed a very interesting piece of information, and it seems to confirm Kent Hughes' interest in him.
Jonathan Marchessault confirmed that last summer, an offer was made by the Montreal Canadiens to bring him to the city
In an article published by TVA Sports and the Journal de Montréal, the following excerpt appears:
"In an interview with TVA Sports, Marchessault confirmed that the Habs made him a contract offer.
However, he preferred the offer from the Preds and signed a 5-year deal worth $5.5 million annually.
He also has a no-trade clause that allows him to list 15 teams he does not wish to play for." - Journal de Montréal
So clearly, the Canadiens had some level of interest in Marchessault, unless everything changed within a year.
This will definitely be a fascinating story to follow this summer.
Everything suggests that Nashville might trade Marchessault, everything suggests he'd accept a trade to Montreal, and we now have confirmation that the Canadiens made him a concrete offer last summer.
