On this topic, journalist Renaud Lavoie, on Monday morning on BPM Sports, suggested the idea of trading the goaltender not to a team aspiring for the cup but rather to look at those who will not participate in the spring tournament. He specifically named the Anaheim Ducks as a team where Allen could be one of the pieces to acquire Trevor Zegras.
Lavoie bases this on the fact that John Gibson currently has a lot of value and that the Ducks could very well trade him by March 8th. The team from California would then need an experienced goaltender to guide its young players.
Without saying that Zegras is officially on the market, Lavoie once again stirs up rumors between the two clubs. It will be interesting to see what happens next.
Allen, who has one more year on his contract next season at $3.85M, has a record of 5-10-3 this season. He has an average of 3.63 goals allowed and a save percentage of .895.
Kent Hughes will have to, unless taking back salary in return, retain a percentage of the goalie's cap hit in a transaction. According to Capfriendly, he has the opportunity to use this maneuver just one more time as two of the three slots allotted for this purpose are already taken by Jeff Petry and Joel Edmundson.
Do you believe a trade involving Allen and young players/draft picks is possible for Trevor Zegras?
