Surprise trade announced between MTL and CBJ involving Laine and Anderson?
An analyst recently raised an intriguing trade possibility between the Montreal Canadiens and the Columbus Blue Jackets involving Josh Anderson and Patrik Laine.
You read that correctly.
On Tony Marinaro's podcast, he and Eric Engels indeed discussed the possibility of a trade between Montreal and Columbus involving several pieces, including Patrik Laine.
A trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Columbus Blue Jackets involving Patrik Laine and Josh Anderson?
We know. Josh Anderson had a tough season, but he didn't become a terrible hockey player overnight, and he could certainly bounce back.
We're talking about a player who was worth (at a minimum) a good first-round pick last year, according to some experts and NHL insiders.
Knowing that Patrik Laine has requested a trade from the Blue Jackets, knowing he fits what the Canadiens might be looking for, and knowing that Columbus has always adored Josh Anderson, could there be a possibility here?
It could also allow the Jackets to save a few million under the NHL salary cap.

It's an interesting idea. We imagine other elements would be involved, but this could potentially be a good starting point.
