Last night in Los Angeles, a wild rumor began making serious waves involving Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby.
The buzz suggested that number 87 was on the verge of being traded during the 2025 NHL Draft.
Things escalated quickly - even
Nathan MacKinnon jumped in, calling it
"fake news" in a public comment.
We didn't report on it at the time because it wasn't credible enough.
That said, late in the evening, the Pittsburgh Penguins addressed the situation quite seriously and made a very clear announcement on the matter.

This announcement came directly from General Manager Kyle Dubas.
Kyle Dubas on Sidney Crosby speculation:
"There's no change at all to anything from our perspective. Everything that we're doing is about bringing the team back to being a contending team and our hope is to sure do that while Sid is a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins."
In short, Sidney Crosby is absolutely not available for a trade - a statement that was also confirmed by his agent.
It's understandable why some would think Crosby may not want to finish his career with a team entering a rebuild, especially one that likely won't make the playoffs for a while. But the reality is that #87 remains endlessly loyal to his Pittsburgh Penguins.
At 37 years old, Sidney Crosby recorded 91 points in 80 games this season, including 33 goals. He also posted 94 and 93 points in the two previous seasons - so yes, he's still an extremely dominant player.
