Insider Frank Seravalli has just made an interesting statement regarding the Chicago Blackhawks and the NHL trade market.
The Chicago Blackhawks Are Reportedly Trying to Trade a Defenseman
Now, that's not exactly what Kent Hughes is looking for, but in order to move Carey Price's contract, I imagine he'll do what's necessary and, in any case, he could always flip that defenseman again (like he did with
Jeff Petry and the Detroit Red Wings).
"Frank Seravalli: I think the Blackhawks probably have 9 to 10 legitimate and realistic NHL defensemen, and someone will need to be traded - Bleacher Report."
It's a situation to watch, but don't be surprised if the Canadiens trade Carey Price's contract to Chicago in exchange for one of these depth defensemen the Hawks need to move.
Connor Murphy, 32 years old, is a 6'4" right-shot defenseman making $4.4 million per year, with 19 points in 68 games last season.
Nolan Allan, 22 years old, is a 6'2", 195-pound left-shot defenseman who recorded 8 points in 43 NHL games last season.
Louis Crevier, 24 years old, is a massive 6'8", 228-pound right-shot defenseman who picked up 4 points in 32 NHL games last season.
Wyatt Kaiser, 23 years old, is a 6'0", 173-pound left-shot defenseman who had 8 points in 57 NHL games last season.
These are names likely to be moved out of Chicago to make room for Levshunov, Vlasic, Korchinski, Rinzel, Del Mastro, and others.
