The Carolina Hurricanes forward, Martin Necas, has made his decision.

He has ultimately opted for salary arbitration, so we can officially forget about the idea of a offer sheet in his case. That option is off the table.

However, Necas remains absolutely available and in demand on the NHL trade market.

Forget about a offer sheet for Martin Necas, but the trade market is heating up

According to the renowned David Pagnotta, the action is indeed picking up for a trade involving Necas. (even a week after the 2024 draft)

Returning to Necas's arbitration request, he is part of a group of 14 players who have done the same.

«This means that Necas is not eligible to sign a offer sheet.

We talked about this possibility in recent weeks... And obviously, we need to forget that scenario.

Note that Necas could still come to an agreement with the Hurricanes before going to an arbitrator.» - Marc-Olivier Cook

In short, we are very eager to see what kind of new contract Necas will sign, as he is reportedly asking for around 7 million dollars per year.

After his 71-point season in 82 games in 2022-23, it was absolutely deserved, but knowing that he has regressed to 53 points in 77 games in 2023-24, it becomes a more complicated case.

Details to follow.
