Nikolaj Ehlers traded to Montreal? Major last-minute development
We just had a major development regarding a possible trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Winnipeg Jets involving Nikolaj Ehlers.
Remember, the Jets are practically forced to trade their speedy forward quickly because he doesn't want to sign a new contract with them.
The Montreal Canadiens are involved in the Nikolaj Ehlers situation
This is reported by the renowned David Pagnotta.
«He [Ehlers] could be traded elsewhere during the offseason. There are several names coming up in the situation, as mentioned by The Fourth Period. Notably, there are the Hurricanes, the Islanders, the Bruins...
And the Canadiens.» - Charles-Alexis Brisebois
It's really interesting to see that Kent Hughes is involved in this matter, and clearly, he continues to try to make a major trade even a week after the draft.
We imagine that Hughes wouldn't make this trade without being assured of signing a new contract for less than $7.5 million per year with Ehlers, so that's another factor to consider.
Nikolaj Ehlers, 28, is a very speedy forward standing 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds.
He was the 9th overall pick in 2014 (1st round) and he collected 61 points, including 25 goals, in 82 games in 2023-2024.
In his NHL career, he has recorded 457 points, including 201 goals, in 605 games played with the Winnipeg Jets.
A situation to follow for Montreal Canadiens fans!
