It's rare to see this, but after the trade concluded between the Montreal Canadiens and the New Jersey Devils involving Jake Allen, a ton of new information is surfacing every day.

A First Trade That Was Canceled Between Kent Hughes and the Devils!

The latest comes from journalist Sam Kasan, from New Jersey, who reveals that another trade was concluded between the CH and the Devils earlier this season involving Jake Allen.
Why did Allen only move to New Jersey on Friday?
Because the veteran goalie had blocked the first trade concluded earlier this season between MTL and NJD due to his no-trade clause. Interesting!
In fact, it was in a press conference after his team's practice that Allen himself admitted to having canceled a trade a few months ago between Montreal and New Jersey.
According to journalist Sam Kasan, it's because of the duo of Vitek Vanecek and Akira Schmid that Allen refused to enter into a new trio.
Understandable.
"The Devils tried to acquire me earlier in the season, but I refused to waive my no-trade clause at that time because I did not see a future for myself there with their duo of Vanecek and Schmid. The situation has since changed, which is why I accepted this time."

- Jake Allen

The story doesn't tell what the return for this first transaction was, but one can imagine it was similar or slightly more interesting for Kent Hughes.
Allen, 33 years old, 34th overall pick in 2008 (2nd round) has a record of 6-12-3 this season, with a goals-against average of 3.65 and a save percentage of .892.
He was finally traded to the Devils last Friday, as you know, in return for a conditional 3rd-round pick in 2025 which could potentially become a 2nd-round pick if he plays at least 40 games next season and if New Jersey makes the 2025 playoffs.
"Allen did not see a future or playing time in New Jersey, but this situation obviously changed at the end of the year." - Sam Kasan
