«If they can do both (acquire players and trade players), that would be the main goal for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
They have assets still available on the trade market, like
David Savard,
Christian Dvorak,
Joel Armia, and even
Jake Evans, who are all under contracts expiring at the end of the season and will continue to generate interest until the trade deadline.
Evans is an interesting name because they would like to keep him, but his value has really increased, so they are juggling this big decision.
Keep him and sign him long-term, or trade him and receive a solid asset in return.
Matheson's name is also circulating.
Now, if we're talking about acquisitions, they've made trades over the past summers, acquiring players like
Alex Newhook,
Kirby Dach,
Patrik Laine.. If they can follow this model and add a young player ready to contribute at the NHL level, that's something they would like to do, I believe.»
