According to a recent report by the excellent TVA Sports journalist Anthony Martineau, Kent Hughes seems on the verge of making a significant announcement.

"An announcement regarding Alex Newhook's contract is expected to be made early next week.

Only a few details remain to be ironed out."

This is indeed excellent news and we are eager for the verdict. According to some rumors, Newhook would sign a contract similar to that signed by Kirby Dach last summer. (3 or 4 million for 3 or four seasons)

"The Canadiens acquire the rights to forward Alex Newhook from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for the 31st (obtained from Florida) and 37th overall picks in Montreal in 2023 and defender Gianni Fairbrother."

Newhook, a 22-year-old center who was drafted 16th overall in 2019, just collected 30 points in 82 games playing less than 14 minutes/game in Colorado.
