Last-minute surprise on the National Hockey League waivers and it's a well known name
For the first time this week, there's activity on the NHL waivers today, and it's a name well known to fans in Quebec.
The Edmonton Oilers have just caused a stir by placing forward Adam Erne on waivers, who has accumulated over 350 NHL games of experience.
He has a sought-after playing style.
Erne, 28, is a former Quebec Remparts player and a 33rd overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.
He has scored 40 goals and nearly 100 career points before today's bad surprise.
He is a robust forward, weighing 215 pounds, who has gone from earning $2.1 million per season to $775,000 per season.
