Extremely strange statement from Cayden Primeau : a trade involving him by the Montreal Canadiens still seems possible

We really believed that the goalie situation was settled for the Montreal Canadiens, at least in the short term.

We thought that Cayden Primeau had made the team, and the team would keep three goalies to start the season, but not so fast.
Earlier today, in a press briefing, the young Primeau made a bizarre and surprising statement coming from Kent Hughes.
So much for communication.
"Both Jesse Ylonen and Cayden Primeau said they learned they made the team by seeing that their name hadn't been placed on waivers yesterday afternoon.

That's it. No call from the GM.

I'm surprised." - Raphaël Doucet

Wow. It is indeed very surprising and special to see that Hughes and Gorton never told Primeau (and Ylonen) that they had officially "made the team".
It's their very first time achieving this. It's a dream come true for them, and it's usually something announced in the GM's office, in a very formal manner.
Not even a single call to announce the news? In fact, they haven't even received confirmation at this time, even though the deadline to submit the final rosters has passed.
You can guess that it's causing a lot of chatter.
"Maybe they're still "working the phone" and want to wait to be sure that nothing else materializes before telling them?" - Marc-Olivier Beaudoin

Clearly, they are on the Habs roster and the deadline has passed.
But especially in Primeau's case, could he still be traded? It definitely seems to be a possibility.
Coming from a GM like Lou Lamoriello, this wouldn't be so surprising (without taking anything away from him), but coming from Kent Hughes, it's curious.
To be continued.
