In the last few moments, it has been announced that young forward Ty Smilanic has finally signed with the Trois-Rivières Lions.

It's a pleasant surprise for him, especially after being cut by the Laval Rocket.

Let's just say he's had some rather peculiar moments to start his young career. If he becomes a great player, it'll be quite a story.

1- Smilanic decides to leave school, to leave the NCAA, in order to try his luck this season with the Montreal Canadiens.

2- He is cut by the Habs and has to "settle" for the Laval Rocket training camp.

3- He is quickly cut by the Laval Rocket and finds himself with literally nothing ahead of him.

4- Today, he finally signs with the Trois-Rivières Lions. He remains within the organizational chart of the Montreal Canadiens and will have a chance to prove himself.

Smilanic, 21 years old, was a third-round pick by the Florida Panthers in 2020. He was acquired by Kent Hughes in March 2022 in the Ben Chiarot trade.

"Ty Smilanic will start his very first season with the Trois-Rivières Lions on October 20th!

In addition to his excellent work ethic, the forward will enhance the team's offense thanks to his good skating!" -Trois-Rivières Lions
