Absent from the competition since December, the Canadiens' forward was on his way to bringing in an excellent trade value for Kent Hughes but, things have changed a lot since his injury that kept him out of the game.
Since then, there has been a lot of speculation about him, but it could be that a team looking for depth for the playoffs will call Kent Hughes to discuss a possible trade.
By the way, as reported by Nicolas Desrosiers of Marqueur.com, Elliotte Friedman mentioned this in his most recent segment on 32 Thoughts:
Is the reputable tipster suggesting that it's still possible Monahan could be traded, by March 3?
Perhaps, but another informant, namely Marc -Olivier Beaudoin, proposed a trade with the Colorado Avalanche, conditional with the number of games that Monahan might be able to play until the end of the season.
This seems like the logical type of trade, if Kent Hughes wants to trade Monahan by Friday (and avoid losing him to free agents this summer without receiving anything in return):
While it's a suggestion, it doesn't seem like a silly idea at all for Kent Hughes because of the injury Monahan suffered last December; this may be the most value he can get by the 3 p.m. Friday deadline.
At that point, it might be best for the Habs to get Monahan to sign a new deal for next season to boost his value at next year's deadline.
