For the first time in a while, we have waiver wire action in the National Hockey League.
Seven players have indeed been placed on waivers, including a pleasant surprise and a great opportunity for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
This is certainly an interesting player for the Habs, and on top of that, he's a Quebec-born forward!
He is clearly the most surprising name on this list, and some Ottawa Senators fans (in the comments) seem shocked to learn that Bourgault has been placed on the National Hockey League waiver wire.
Do you think Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens should claim Bourgault for free?
At 22 years old, right-shot center Xavier Bourgault is a Quebec native, standing 5-foot-11 and weighing 179 pounds, who was a first-round pick of the Edmonton Oilers in 2021.
Bourgault was in fact the 22nd overall pick of the 1st round in 2021, meaning he was drafted ahead of names like
Wyatt Johnston and
Logan Mailloux.
Last season, he collected 26 points in 61 games with the Ottawa Senators' AHL affiliate, after putting up 54 points with the Edmonton Oilers' AHL team.
He is without a doubt the most interesting name on this list.
Among the other noteworthy names, we obviously find goaltender
Connor Ingram:
"Connor Ingram (UTA) is among the NHL players on waivers today, as expected. He'll resume his career in the AHL if unclaimed."
