We know that Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens are actively looking for a centerman.
The problem is that there are very few centers currently available for trade across the NHL.
In fact, there are different levels when talking about a player who could potentially be traded.
There are players who are not officially on the trade market, but for whom GMs are still willing to listen to offers.
There are players who are available on the trade market, but not being pushed aggressively.
And then there are players whom teams are actively trying to trade. These, of course, are by far the easiest players to acquire.
Calle Jarnkrok clearly belongs to this third category.
The Leafs are openly shopping him, they want to move him, and if a team like the Montreal Canadiens is interested, it will be easy for Kent Hughes to acquire him.
David Pagnotta: "Calle Jarnkrok.. he was in discussions all summer, [the Leafs] tried trading him, they had discussions with other teams, obviously that didn't work out; we'll see kind of where that goes" - Leafs Morning Take
So, do you believe he could be a quick and effective solution for the Montreal Canadiens to bring in help down the middle?
Calle Jarnkrok, 34 years old, is a right-handed centerman, 6 feet tall and 191 pounds, who has recorded 308 points in 718 NHL games, including 39 points in 2023 with Toronto.
