We now know when the famous lottery will take place, and we have a date to circle on our calendars (or at least a precise schedule).
See what insider Frank Seravalli reports:
So, it will be on May 6 or May 7, depending on the final NHL 2024 playoffs schedule.
Given that the Habs will obviously not participate in the spring dance this season, this is the next big date to watch.
At the time of writing, Kent Hughes and the Habs have a 7.5% chance of winning the lottery and drafting the highly talented Macklin Celebrini, but we are just one point away from overtaking the Arizona Coyotes in this reverse ranking and having an 8.5% chance.
Celebrini, 17, is making waves in the NCAA with Lane Hutson at Boston University.
The one who will be the 1st overall pick in 2024 is a 6-foot, 190-pound center, who has collected an incredible 59 points (31 goals) in 35 games, a historic haul for a 17-year-old in the NCAA.
Lane Hutson, for his part, has amassed 46 points (13 goals) in 35 games as a 20-year-old defenseman.
Will Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton be lucky?
There would also obviously be the possibility of winning the second or third overall pick, but the home run would be Mack Celebrini.
