The head coach of the Islanders, Patrick Roy, just received very bad news, as if it wasn't enough with Anders Lee.

As if the injury of his captain Anders Lee wasn't enough for Patrick Roy, he has now officially lost his fourth most-used defenseman.

Scott Mayfield's season is over.

"The Islanders announced that defenseman Scott Mayfield has undergone surgery and his season is finished.

The timeline anticipates a normal summer of training and a full recovery in time for next season." - Frank Seravalli

Thus, another blow strikes Patrick Roy this late season.

His Islanders are four points away from the NHL playoffs, but have a record of 3-6-1 in their last 10 games.

They are clearly not heading in the right direction, and it seems that Patrick Roy's team will unfortunately miss the 2024 playoffs, much to our dismay.

Injuries might be the final blow for them.

Mayfield, a 34th overall pick, was playing an average of 20 minutes per game for the former #33. Details will follow.
