Wow: Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens might have acquired an all-new, younger Jeff Petry by deciding to draft David Reinbacher

In a recent interview, David Reinbacher's coach in the NL (at Kloten) made a surprising statement.

When asked about the NHL player who is the best comparison for Reinbacher, he quickly replied with this.

"I've coached Jeff Petry... he has a good reach, he defends well, he moves the puck exceptionally well, his defensive abilities are solid."

"If you were Montreal, would you be happy to have acquired a Petry as the 5th overall pick in a draft?"

That's quite something. Out of all the NHL defensemen, Reinbacher's coach specifically chose Petry as a comparison.

Admittedly, Petry has had some good seasons, especially with the Montreal Canadiens, but many fans would have hoped for a more inspiring answer (like Moritz Seider, Alex Pietrangelo, or Jake Sanderson, for example).

It will be interesting to see if he changes his mind at the end of the season.

We should also expect to see Reinbacher take on a major role in Kloten this year, having scored 22 points in 46 games last season.

As for Petry, he has accumulated 353 points in 864 career games in the NHL. He was a 2nd round pick in 2006.
