In the era of advanced statistics, one of the most reputable names in the field has just published an extremely interesting chart.
According to Mason Black's model, in line with what Byron Bader proposed, here are the top prospects on the planet.
"PNHLe Rankings. PNHLe measures a prospect's NHL point potential. It is based on historical values and adjusts according to age, production, league, and position to normalize a player's future value."
And here is the result:
According to advanced statistics, we can indeed argue that after the draft, the Montreal Canadiens could have two of the top 4 prospects in the world (with Matvei Michkov and Lane Hutson).
We should also note the names of Will Smith and Gabe Perreault, who are targets of Kent Hughes.
Imagine coming out of this draft with Michkov or Smith, plus Perreault! That would be extraordinary.
However, in order for this to happen, Kent Hughes would need to make a deal to move up the position of his second first round pick, that of the Panthers.
To be continued, but this chart is very interesting.
