Plot twist for a trade involving the Canadiens and the Predators and their first-round pick
The National Hockey League (NHL) is in a state of flux entering the upcoming Draft in Nashville. A number of transactions have already been completed and numerous teams, including the Montreal Canadiens, have been the subject of speculation.
It is unclear who General Manager Kent Hughes will select with his fifth overall pick; however, this remains an attractive selection as many managers are reportedly being aggressive in their pursuit of it.
According to Marco Normandin from Habsolumentfan.com, newly appointed Nashville Predators General Manager Barry Trotz has expressed a desire to acquire a first-round pick between fifth and seventh overall. Michael Gallagher from Nashville Hockey Now further corroborated this sentiment in his recent statement.
Note that the Predators have the 15th overall pick.
It is unclear what this could entail, whether it will involve player trades or draft pick exchanges, but it seems likely that, similar to Kent Hughes last year in Montreal, the general manager of the host city of the draft could steal the spotlight in the first round.
