Last minute official announcement from the Montreal Canadiens ahead of the 2023 Draft
Aside from the grand finale of the Stanley Cup, it's currently very quiet in the NHL and with the Montreal Canadiens, but it's clearly the calm before the storm.
In less than a month, it will finally be time for the much-anticipated 2023 draft, and things are likely to get heated!
A major first step starting this Sunday
To the great delight of fans, the process leading up to the selection meeting will seriously kick off this Sunday!
The Montreal Canadiens organization has just published an official statement about what's coming up.
MONTREAL - One last pitstop awaits this year's top prospects on their way to the 2023 NHL Draft.
The NHL Scouting Combine, which will feature 106 big-league hopefuls, is set to run June 4-10 at KeyBank Center and HarborCenter in Buffalo.
According to NHL.com, 65 forwards, 34 defensemen and seven goalies are slated to participate in the annual event, which includes physical testing, medical assessments, and one-on-one interviews.
Top prospects Connor Bedard, Adam Fantilli, Leo Carlsson, and William Smith are among the invitees.
Here's a brief timeline of the scheduled events:
June 4: Arrivals
June 5-9: All 32 NHL teams are eligible to meet one-one-one with the players
June 7: Medical examinations are to be held at KeyBank Center
June 9: Media availabilities are to be held at 4:30 p.m. ET
June 10: Physical evaluations begins See you there! Let's remember that it's this very specific process that led to the selection of Juraj Slafkovsky by the Habs a year ago.
The next few days will therefore be really decisive for the Habs' 5th overall pick and for the future of the franchise.
