Kent Hughes hints at a player targeted by the Montreal Canadiens for the fifth overall pick
Earlier today, live from Buffalo, the General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, held a press conference where he discussed several very interesting issues, including that of Matvei Michkov.
He also dropped some very interesting information that says a lot about his relationship with one of the prospects potentially targeted at the 5th overall pick.
Regarding seeing a young person he knows well, like
Will Smith, as part of the draft process, Hughes admitted that it's special and unique for him.
When we interviewed Will (Smith), I texted his parents right after to tell them I couldn't believe how much he had changed. He's so much more mature, more confident. [...] There's no doubt that he's a young man I've really liked as a person and as a player.
- Kent Hughes
Wow! That speaks volumes about his relationship with him. Imagine, Hughes texted directly to Will Smith's parents in the last few hours.
And we have Smith who has openly mentioned that he would really like to be drafted by Kent Hughes and the Habs.
A special and obvious target
Don't be surprised if the Montreal Canadiens arrange to get their hands on Smith in about twenty days, whether it's at the 4th (via trade) or at the 5th overall pick.
We get the impression that he is extremely high on Kent Hughes' list.
