The Toronto Maple Leafs star, Mitch Marner, was placed on the injury reserve over a week ago. Ahead of tomorrow's game against the Philadelphia Flyers, head coach Sheldon Keefe shared an update on his status.
Sheldon Keefe Confirms That Mitch Marner Has a High Ankle Sprain and Will Miss At Least Two Games
It was announced last week that Marner had returned to the ice. However, this seems to have had consequences on his recovery process.
Keefe revealed that Marner would not be with the team for their two-game trip:
Sheldon Keefe says Mitch Marner (high ankle sprain) is not coming on the two-game road trip: "He's day-to-day, away from being day-to-day."
Marner did not skate today.
"It hasn't been responding the way they had hoped, so they're just stepping back a little bit with it," he added.
The Leafs will try to bounce back from their tough loss against the Carolina Hurricanes, where they blew a lead once again, against the Flyers and then the Washington Capitals, without Marner.
With 16 games remaining in the regular season, there's still time for Marner to be back in time for the playoffs. We'll see if it'll be enough for the Leafs to win the first round this year.
