Major turnaround and unexpected departure to Europe for a Montreal Canadiens forward? It has just been suggested for Lias Andersson
Some curious information has just emerged about a forward from the Montreal Canadiens organization, as according to the excellent Patrik Bexell, Lias Andersson could surprise everyone and leave for Europe.
"According to the two sources, Davos is among the teams looking to add Lias Andersson from the Laval Rocket to their roster for next season.
There is a lot of interest from the SHL, but it's probably Davos who would pay the most, and who wouldn't want to play in that arena?"
It would be a shame to lose him like that, but it doesn't seem to necessarily work out for him with the Canadiens.
At times, players like Mitchell Stephens and Lucas Condotta were preferred over him by Kent Hughes for a call-up to the major league.
In fact, Andersson surprisingly never got his chance with the Canadiens in the regular season.
His potential seems to be high, yet something seems to be missing in his case.
We're talking about a 7th overall pick (1st round) in 2017, who is one of the best players of the Laval Rocket (34 points in 41 games including 17 goals) who could suddenly leave the CH organization to play in Sweden.
A file to follow this summer.
Andersson, 25 years old, had gathered 59 points in 67 games, including 31 goals in the American Hockey League. He is clearly a very dominant player in the AHL, but in the NHL, we're talking about 17 career points (7 goals).
Do you think Kent Hughes should make an effort to keep Lias Andersson? Do you believe he deserves a call-up and a trial with the CH by the end of the season?
