It went slightly under the radar, but Calgary Flames forward Ryan Lomberg made a dangerous move toward Canadiens goaltender Jakub Dobes.
Ryan Lomberg pulled a "
Chris Kreider" move, crashing into Dobes while the young Habs goalie was in a vulnerable position.
It was pretty dangerous, but fortunately, there were no consequences for the young goaltender.
I'm not sure if it deserves an NHL sanction, but it definitely deserves a visit from a certain
Arber Xhekaj eventually...
Ryan Lomberg Made a Dangerous Move Toward Jakub Dobes
The Canadiens players were quick to react.
Let's just say this image brings back some very bad memories for Montreal Canadiens fans...
"Ryan Lomberg "accidentally on purpose" trying to skate into Jakub Dobes
- Habs On Reddit
"Did Lomberg just try to Kreider Dobes??? Dirty player to say the least."
- NSN
Here's the footage of Kreider's incident on
Carey Price:
I don't understand why the NHL doesn't do a better job of protecting goaltenders... Lomberg's action was clearly deliberate, dangerous, and could have seriously injured the young Dobes.
Let's remember that Dobes is off to a fantastic start to the season with the Montreal Canadiens. And with
Samuel Montembeault having a slow start to the season, the Habs can't risk losing him to injuries.
Dobes, just 24 years old, standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 215 pounds, has a 4-0-0 record this season with a 1.47 goals-against average and a .950 save percentage.
In his NHL career, he holds a record of 11-4-3, with a 2.46 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage.
What an incredible start to his career!
