We talked to you about it last night, but there's one thing that's really drawing attention today after the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Calgary Flames.
On social media and on various sports pages, it's obviously the now-famous power outage that's getting all the attention.
It's quite embarrassing for a league like the NHL, especially in 2025, and there are rumors circulating that Gary Bettman could indeed impose a sanction on the Calgary Flames because of what happened last night.
First, the game started several minutes late, which is illegal, and second, it began despite lighting that was below the league's required standards.
The Calgary Flames Could Be Fined by Gary Bettman and the NHL Following What Happened at the Start of Last Night's Game Against the Montreal Canadiens
Max Truman mentioned it rather casually:
"If it really cost $20,000 for the Canadiens being two minutes late in their season opener at the Bell Centre, I wonder how much it's going to cost the Flames tonight."

But the rule remains very clear. This will be a situation to monitor!
If a sanction is indeed imposed on the Flames, it probably won't even be announced publicly, but that would be the least the league could do.
Clearly, someone in Calgary didn't do their job properly, and it resulted in some embarrassing images for the NHL.
"The Habs and Flames are currently playing with most of the lights OFF at Scotiabank Saddledome.
They paused the start of the game for several minutes to try and fix an issue but decided to just start the game anyway."
That likely didn't impress the one and only Shania Twain:
Thankfully, no one was injured, and the Canadiens capped off the night with a thrilling overtime win on a beautiful setup from
Ivan Demidov to Mike Matheson.
