Members of the core four have been put on the trade block
It was finally today that the highly anticipated season review of the Toronto Maple Leafs took place, and we were absolutely not disappointed.
It was intense! Keith Pelley, the CEO of the Leafs' owning company, delivered quite a message.
The owners want change, and the new GM Brad Treliving, who is really not a patient person, also wants major changes in Toronto.
Clearly, firing head coach Sheldon Keefe was really not their last dramatic move of the offseason.
They went very far.
Dramatic turn: the Leafs' bosses put big names on the trading block, and even Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner seem not to be safe from a trade
See one of the major statements, which says a lot.
«We're not here to sell [star players'] jerseys. We're here to win.»

Brendan Shanahan went even further, confirming that they will explore transactions involving one or more members of their big top-4, consisting of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander, and John Tavares.
«Without saying it explicitly, the Maple Leafs management could not have made it clearer, between the lines, that they are going to explore the possibility of trading one or more members of their core this summer.»

Wow, things are shaking up in Toronto!
If we do the math, we can imagine that the names most "in danger" of being traded are Mitch Marner, John Tavares, and Morgan Rielly.
Despite their big statements today, I would be very surprised if they traded Auston Matthews, and as for William Nylander, he is probably their only player who really steps up his game in the playoffs.
«It's going to be an extremely interesting summer in Toronto, that's for sure!»
Oh yes!
Who will be traded, according to you? Auston Matthews? Mitch Marner? William Nylander? John Tavares or Morgan Rielly? Several of these answers?
Anyway, I would be very surprised to see all these names back in Toronto next September.
Rest assured that after such statements regarding the trading market, the phone will ring in Toronto for some big names!
Will one of these calls come from Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens? Stay tuned.
