It was emotional to listen to, as he was visibly moved, but during a press conference earlier today, Pacioretty spoke like a player who has very likely played his final professional hockey game.
Max Pacioretty announces he may truly retire from the NHL
See the report from Chris Johnston:
"Max Pacioretty says he's not sure if he'll continue his NHL career next year. The veteran forward said it was extremely difficult living apart from his family while playing in Toronto this season.
Says he's just looking forward to getting home and seeing them."
- Chris Johnston, TSN
It's a story to watch, but all signs point to the end of Pacioretty's time in the National Hockey League.
Regardless, he can truly be proud of what he accomplished in the NHL.
He added 58 points, including 28 goals, in 89 playoff games.
Pacioretty notably stood out during the 2025 playoffs with the Toronto Maple Leafs, collecting 8 points in 11 games.
A situation to watch closely this summer!
