In fact, the Pennsylvania organization had been eyeing Dubas for a while, to the point where the team was already looking into the situation, patiently waiting to know the outcome of his situation with his former team, in order to be ready to covet him at the right time.
A few days after being thanked for his work in Toronto, the confirmation of Dubas's hiring as President of Hockey Operations for the Penguins was confirmed.
In connection with his acquisition, major information has leaked about the details of the 37-year-old manager's contract, and it's downright wild!
According to information first reported by the site DansLesCoulisses, Pittsburgh would have offered a seven-year contract to Dubas, with a staggering sum amounting to $40M.
He would undoubtedly be one of, if not the highest paid executive in the league, with his contract earning him close to $6M per season, which represents a higher annual salary than over 70% of NHL players.
It's safe to say, the Penguins have outright paid for Dubas's services. Now let's hope for them that this agreement yields dividends on the team's performance.
