Earlier today, major news broke in the hockey world with the firing of John Tortorella by the Philadelphia Flyers.
The reasons behind this major decision by General Manager Daniel Brière were already being speculated..
But apparently, there's even more to the story.
Jean Trudel of Stanley25 reveals the likely real reason for John Tortorella's firing by the Flyers
Or at least, Trudel reveals what was likely the final straw.
In a video posted to his Patreon account (which we strongly recommend, by the way)..
An incident between young Cam York and John Tortorella
Basically, as Philadelphia got steamrolled by the Toronto Maple Leafs with a 7-2 loss earlier this week, Tortorella tried to send a clear message, a classic "Tortorella-style" message, by benching defenseman Cam York.
York only played 3 minutes and 50 seconds during the entire game, which is far below his average of 21 minutes and 3 seconds per game this season.
"According to the sources of the insider, who's no stranger to breaking stories, York, a first-round pick and part of the team's core, snapped in the locker room and decided to speak his mind to the head coach in front of the entire team, saying he was a bad coach.
The rest of the players were reportedly hiding their faces in their towels to react without revealing their emotions."

So this seems to be the final straw that broke the camel's back, on top of comments made last night:
Solid work once again from Jean Trudel, bringing us info that sheds light on this surprising firing.
By the way, it's worth mentioning that Cam York is indeed the player the Philadelphia Flyers selected in the 1st round of the 2019 draft (14th overall), just before the Montreal Canadiens picked
Cole Caufield at 15th.
