A little over a year ago, live from the 2024 NHL Draft in Las Vegas, the Montreal Canadiens drafted young forward Michael Hage. And more and more, it's looking like an excellent pickup for the Habs.

Hage is truly turning heads right now during Team Canada's summer showcase.
All signs point to Hage playing a major role for Team Canada at the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championship.

Michael Hage is "the perfect second-line center," says expert Steven Ellis

That's music to the ears of Canadiens fans - especially considering it's probably the last major need the team still has to fill.
If Hage really does develop into the ideal second-line center at the NHL level, it could change everything for the Habs.
Steven Ellis of Daily Faceoff, on Canadiens prospect Michael Hage with Team Canada at the WJSS:
"Hage is a perfect second-line center because he plays a reliable two-way game without sacrificing offensive chances."
All the details are in his full article, but here's a summary of what he said:
"Michael Hage scored the opening goal, positioning himself in the slot to receive a pass unnoticed.

That's not what impressed me the most, though.

It was his constant movement on the ice - allowing him to create space and set up teammates.

Hage is the perfect No. 2 center because he plays a dependable two-way game without giving up offensive opportunities.

I also loved his pass on Team Canada Red's second goal."

- Steven Ellis, Daily Faceoff

Personally, I'm really glad Kent Hughes didn't give in to the temptation of trading of trading Michael Hage for a player like Noah Dobson or Jordan Kyrou, as some rumors had suggested.
If the young forward develops into a solid NHL center, he could become a major piece for Martin St-Louis' squad - and don't be surprised if he gets called up later this season.
It'll be exciting to follow his progress over the next few months, both with Team Canada Junior and with the University of Michigan Wolverines (NCAA).
