A few weeks ago, we reported that the Columbus Blue Jackets tried to talk to Jeff Gorton of the Montreal Canadiens for their GM position.
Obviously, they really want Gorton to become their new general manager, but they still haven't gotten permission to talk to him and make him an offer.
We thought this story was in the past and that Gorton's name would no longer be linked to Columbus, but now there is a new development.

We know that he and John Davidson have a special relationship, but we also know that Kent Hughes and Geoff Molson really want to keep Gorton in Montreal.
So why are the Jackets so insistent?
Is it because the door is more open than expected behind the scenes, or is it simply because they are very stubborn?
We ask the question because logically, if the Canadiens had given a very clear and definitive answer (a clear no) to the Blue Jackets, they would probably have abandoned the project.
In any case, this is a story to watch closely.
It's slightly worrying to see this story resurface because we really want Jeff Gorton to stay with the Montreal Canadiens, but at the same time, we continue to think that Geoff Molson will never let him go.
He really believes in his two-headed system with Gorton and Hughes.
