St-Louis takes a shot at Montembeault after his bad performance
The new two goalie rotation between Samuel Montembeault and Cayden Primeau, holds surprises for Martin St-Louis.
For a reason unknown to me, we really feel that the Canadiens are hesitant to make Montembeault their undisputed and definitive number one goalie, in the same way as a Jordan Binnington in St-Louis, for example.
It feels like Samuel must constantly earn his starts, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it opens the door to speculation and changes of mind.
A second consecutive start for Cayden Primeau?
Don't be surprised if the Canadiens announce today that Primeau is the one starting for his team's next game.
The young goalie was very solid last night against the New York Rangers, but he was completely left to fend for himself. (41 saves on 45 shots)
As for Montembeault, he was shaky in his last start:
"Martin St-Louis indicates that he made the goalie change because he didn't feel that Samuel Montembeault was at the top of his game."

Sam Montembeault pulled vs the Leafs after allowing 4 goals on 12 shots
This will therefore be an interesting file to follow, but if Primeau finishes the season strong and if he plays more, it's likely to cause a lot of talk this summer.
Statistics of both goalies since the Jake Allen trade:
Montembeault in April - Average of 4.78 and efficiency rate of 0.865
Montembeault in March - Average of 2.57 and efficiency rate of 0.911
Primeau in April - Average of 3.98 and efficiency rate of 0.901
Primeau in March - Average of 1.97 and efficiency rate of 0.940 In your opinion, which goalie will play the most games for the Montreal Canadiens next season?
