Real Reason Multiple Canadiens Prospects Were Released During Rocket's Playoff Run May Finally Be Revealed

Earlier today, we were surprised to learn that four Montreal Canadiens prospects were released during the Laval Rocket's playoff run.
It was the Canadiens' AHL affiliate, the Rocket, that made the announcement.

Tyler Thorpe, Will Dineen and Joe Dunlap were released from their professional tryout contracts. Defenseman
Owen Protz was also released from his amateur tryout contract.

Marco D'Amico reveals the possible real reason behind the release of four players by the Laval Rocket, including Owen Protz and Tyler Thorpe.
The Rocket's announcement sparked many reactions and questions.. Why were Protz and Thorpe released in the middle of the AHL playoffs?
They could have been good insurance in case of injuries, right?
Well, on that subject, D'Amico notes that all signs point to Canadiens management simply wanting to allow these young players to begin their training and summer preparation ahead of the next training camp.
"The Laval Rocket release two Habs prospects, Owen Protz and Tyler Thorpe from their respective try-outs.
Reminder that Thorpe already signed his ELC for next season, and Protz is 19, and thus not eligible for the AHL next season.
