Here is a new development in the Mitch Marner situation. As you probably already know, the current Toronto Maple Leafs forward is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
Once that date arrives, the star forward will be free to sign with any team of his choosing, and the Leafs will no longer have any control over the matter.
According to several sources, it's already a done deal, Marner won't be returning to Toronto. But not so fast!
The Toronto Maple Leafs Have Called a Meeting With Mitch Marner, They Will Sit Down With Him to Discuss and See if He Wants to Sign
It's a meeting that will be closely watched across the NHL, especially by teams interested in signing him this summer.
"According to Friedman (32 Thoughts podcast), the Leafs haven't necessarily closed the door in his case.
They want to sit down with the player to see what his plan is.. and whether there's a chance to begin contract discussions."

Clearly, the Maple Leafs don't want to give up on this file.
According to rumors and none other than Pierre LeBrun, Marner is expected to cost (at a bare minimum) 13 million dollars per year this summer.
Do you believe the Maple Leafs still have a chance to re-sign him?
