Unfortunately, Patrik Laine has been missing in action for a few games with the Montreal Canadiens due to flu-like symptoms.
Martin St-Louis' team is still finding success, but let's just say we're still looking forward to seeing him back in uniform.
I really believe he can be part of the long-term solution for the Canadiens organization, but that doesn't seem to be a shared opinion by all experts. (notably Alain Crête)
Alain Crête questions Patrik Laine's future with the Montreal Canadiens
In an interview this morning on BPM Sports, the host of the Canadiens' games on RDS had a lot to say about Laine.
Here's an excerpt.
«As for Laine, I'll tell you honestly, he had an impact on the power play, there's no doubt about that.
And now, for a week, he hasn't been here, and you can't really say that the Canadiens have slowed down much.
In general, I can't say.. I'll tell you honestly, I don't think he has a long-term future with the Canadiens, Patrik Laine.
I think it's a temporary measure. I don't think he's going to be here very long.»
Personally, in the right role, I truly believe Laine can be part of the long-term solution with the Montreal Canadiens, especially since he is unlikely to command an unreasonable salary for his next contract.
