In 66 games so far, Suzuki scored 62 points, including 26 goals. William Nylander, one of the Maple Leafs' stars, is also having a great year, with 86 points in 65 goals.
In two games less, Suzuki has seven more points than Nylander. With 16 games remaining to the Habs' season, he could get this number even higher.
However, there is a big difference between both players. Nylander recently signed an eight-year contract worth $11,500,000 a year, whereas Suzuki will earn $7,875,000 per season until 2030.
We can't deny that this contract was a great move by Marc Bergevin. On the other hand, Brad Treliving, the Leafs' general manager, will be stuck until 2032 with a player worth more than $11 million a year.
