The National Hockey League has indeed announced a small but interesting change in the statistics from yesterday's game for Samuel Montembeault.
As you know, the Quebecois goaltender was absolutely phenomenal Wednesday night, literally securing the victory for his team with a shutout against the
Toronto Maple Leafs.
We just wanted to take this opportunity to talk about Samuel's extraordinary game, but do note that the NHL has added one save to Samuel Montembeault's stats.
A record broken for Monty as the Maple Leafs get one more shot on goal
With an incredible 48-save shutout, Montembeault has set an NHL record!
"Goaltender Sam Montembeault sets an NHL record for the most saves made in a shutout during a season opener with 48."
Wow, what a goalie! I feel like it didn't take long for him to catch the attention of Team Canada's management.
Please also note that Montembeault is the first goalie in over 228 games to shut out the Leafs' offense.
This was truly a special performance from Monty. What a strong start.
"The league adjusted the total number of shots to 48. So, a 48-save shutout to open the season for Sam Montembeault." - Arpon Basu
We are incredibly lucky to have Samuel here in Montreal.
He keeps proving the experts wrong and continues to surprise us.
While he obviously can't be this miraculous every night, if Samuel Montembeault plays to his full potential, the
Montreal Canadiens can truly hope to make the playoffs this season.
