Last night, there was a bit of confusion following the third goal scored by the Montreal Canadiens.
Initially, it was believed that young Cole Caufield had netted his 20th of the season:
"They've credited that goal to Caufield, so that's his 20th of the season!" - Arpon Basu
However, the NHL has officially removed the goal from Caufield's record, who remains at 19 goals for the 2023-24 season and is still on the hunt for his twentieth. (in 61 games) This has been confirmed and revised.
Cole Caufield Back to 19 Goals
The goal was awarded to Josh Anderson, marking his eighth of the season, which helped the Habs secure a valuable point in Tampa Bay.
This was Anderson's first goal in nearly two months, since January 11, and it was a timely one!
It's worth noting that Martin St-Louis's team ended up losing 4-3 in a shootout to Tampa Bay, a result that St-Louis actually found satisfying, according to his post-game comments.
