The Montreal Canadiens' 2025 training camp doesn't officially begin for another two weeks, but already, we're seeing full practices-or close to it.
It's Adam Nicholas representing the Habs and acting as coach (until camp officially opens), but these are essentially full regular practices.
It's pretty fascinating.
That said, we already have several interesting details emerging from these sessions, as 90% of the team's players are present.
The Canadiens may have just revealed Ivan Demidov's two new linemates
Here's what Marc-Olivier Cook just reported:
"For several drills (zone entries), we've been seeing Demidov lined up with Dach and Laine.
A preview of what's to come for training camp?"
A preview of what's to come for training camp?"
This lines up with the circulating rumor and indeed seems to confirm that Demidov's two linemates, at least to start camp, will be Patrik Laine and Kirby Dach.
It will be Demidov's first time playing with Dach.
This would also confirm that Juraj Slafkovsky will be placed on the top line with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield, so it's status quo for him (at least for now).
That said, I'm pretty surprised to see Laine slotted ahead of Zachary Bolduc on the second line, considering Bolduc clearly seems more effective at 5-on-5.
A situation to watch, but let's just say it's a major hint seeing Nicholas place Demidov with Dach and Laine today.
