We Finally Know What the Referee Yelled at Brendan Gallagher During Their Heated Exchange
Last night's game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers has unfortunately caused a stir across the NHL - and for all the wrong reasons.
That's something we rarely see.
As you can see in the following video:
Gallagher appeared to have a heated conversation with the official who had just called the questionable penalty on
Josh Anderson.
But what exactly was said?
"I'm going to be honest with you, started with Slaf's penalty. Talked to him after that one, they admitted it wasn't a penalty, made a mistake." - Gally
The Canadiens forgave and forgot that call.
But they couldn't do the same when Mike Matheson was penalized at the 11-minute mark of the third period.
Draisaitl scored, then Anderson was called for unsportsmanlike conduct - either for shooting the puck down the ice or for yelling at the referee about Matheson's penalty.
It wasn't clear to us, so we asked Gallagher what explanation he got when he spoke to the ref about the decision.
"Unsportsmanlike. He felt he showed him up. He didn't.
The fact that you don't even know what it is, goes to show." Gallagher said.
It's definitely not the end of this story, and it's a real shame for Martin St-Louis' squad!
