We have some sad news to share, as the Montreal Canadiens organization is in mourning.

As just announced by the NHL Alumni Association, former Canadiens forward Phil Roberto has passed away.
An official statement from the Canadiens is expected any moment, but here is the official announcement from the NHL Alumni Association:
"The NHL Alumni Association is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Phil Roberto at the age of 76. [...]

After completing his final junior hockey season in 1968-1969, Phil made his NHL debut for the Montreal Canadiens on December 17, 1969. While he spent most of the 1969-1970 season with the Montreal Voyageurs of the AHL, Phil played in 54 regular season games for the Canadiens the following season, scoring his first career goal on January 16, 1971, against Boston's Edie Johnston.

In the spring of 1971, Phil and his Montreal teammates hoisted the Stanley Cup after defeating the Chicago Black Hawks in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. [...]

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Phil's family, friends, and former teammates during this incredibly difficult time."
