Michel Therrien makes a big statement on Martin St-Louis' departure and reveals that a similar situation happened to him
When we learned that Martin St-Louis had indefinitely left the Canadiens to join his wife and children, there were many reactions.
Today, several days later, a new publication has just surfaced via TVA Sports, and an extremely relevant person has just commented on this unfortunate story.
Michel Therrien, who himself was head coach of the Canadiens for many years, has just published an extremely relevant text.
Probably the most relevant text on the subject to have been published.
Therrien, in addition to having been a head coach of the CH for a long time, experienced a very similar situation to that of Martin St-Louis so he is one of the best people to understand what he is currently going through.
As my colleague Nicolas Desrosiers reports, in 2007, while he was at the helm of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Therrien had to leave his team after a game in Ottawa to be at his father's bedside, who had suffered a fifth stroke and whose days were numbered.
"I was torn before making this decision. I wondered if it was the right thing to do. In hindsight, I'm glad I chose to go see him."
- Michel Therrien
A powerful testimony from the man who is now with TVA Sports.
"St-Louis left his wife and children behind him by becoming coach of the Canadiens. I know full well that it's not an easy situation to live through."
"It's a privilege to coach in the National Hockey League, but it also comes with a lot of sacrifices. It means you have to miss out on a lot of things and that your family has to adapt to allow you to reach your dream." - Michel Therrien
A very touching text, and so relevant!
TO READ:
Like all of us, he believes that there is absolutely no rush and that Martin St-Louis must take ALL the necessary time to stay with his family.
We can never say it enough, but if he doesn't come back this season, well that will be it and everyone will understand. We continue to think of them anyway.
