The well-known TSN insider Chris Johnston has just confirmed a rather unusual piece of information regarding Lane Hutson and the Montreal Canadiens.
I believe this is the first time in my life that I've heard an insider reveal something like this, but Johnston has just stated that Lane Hutson's father is directly involved in his son's contract negotiations with the Canadiens.. Wow!
It's therefore not surprising to see so many conflicting reports circulating about this situation, because there are simply so many people involved.
Lane Hutson's agents are probably leaking information to the media, the Montreal Canadiens are probably leaking information to the media (to move things along), and now we're learning that Lane Hutson's father may also be leaking information to the media.
Yes, this is getting a little out of hand..
In the end, everyone wants what's best for Lane Hutson (including, of course, his father), and everyone agrees that this next contract will be extremely important. That's perfectly understandable, but it's very unusual to see a family member get this directly involved.

Let's hope it's resolved soon - for the fans, of course, but especially for Lane Hutson. He really seems fed up with all these distractions.
